Professor Eva Zurek, a CDAC Academic Partner from the University at Buffalo, has received the 2014 Young Leaders Professional Development Award of The Minerals, Metals and Materials Society (TMS).  Professor Zurek was presented with the award at the TMS Annual meeting held recently in San Diego, CA. 

Professor Zurek joined the CDAC program in 2013.  Her research focuses on the use of quantum chemical techniques to explore the electronic structures of molecules and solids.  In her work as part of CDAC, she uses an evolutionary algorithm method to predict the structures of materials at very high pressures.
