Two Carnegie summer interns have been recognized with Outstanding Student Paper awards for their presentations at the fall meeting of the American Geophysical Union, held this past December in San Francisco. Sonali Shukla, a junior at New York University, received the citation from the Planetary Sciences section for her presentation "Atmospheric Circulation of the Extrasolar Giant Planet HD209458b Under Diabatic Heating." Lora Armstrong, a senior at the University of Michigan received her citation from the Volcanology, Geochemistry and Petrology section for her presentation "Liquidus Phase Relations in Pyrolite at Pressures of the Transition Zone."
