Message from the Director - July 2016

There is important news this summer from CDAC.  As of July 1, I am directing CDAC from my new position as a Research Professor in the School of Engineering and Applied Science at the George Washington University.

The George Washington University (GWU) has made major investments recently in its downtown campus, including the opening this past March of its new Science and Engineering Hall, and its continued support of its Virginia Science and Technology Campus.

At GWU, we are excited to be directly engaged with students spanning many disciplines and with faculty in the College of Arts and Sciences as well as School of Engineering and Applied Science.  We’re also pleased to be more directly engaged with policy activities in the Elliott School of International Affairs, including its new NNSA-supported program.

Carnegie remains an important part of CDAC during this transition.  CDAC administrative and research staff currently at Carnegie continue to support both activities of the Center as well as high-pressure labs at the Geophysical Laboratory, including research and management of HPCAT. I am a Visiting Investigator at Carnegie, while also serving as Research Physicist at Livermore for 2016.

CDAC remains a vibrant program with 16 partner university groups, now including GWU. As we move into our 13th year, we look forward to continued support of the NNSA’s stewardship science mission and expanding opportunities for the Center.

Sincerely,
