On Wednesday August 8th, three Carnegie Summer Scholars working on CDAC-related research presented the results of their summer's work in the Greenewalt Lecture Hall on the Broad Branch Road Campus. Louis Loubeyre (University of Paris VII) studied heterogeneity in the dynamics of methanol under high pressure with Carnegie Research Scientist Muhetaer Ahart. Viktor Rozsa (Williams College) worked on pressure studies of hydrogen-loaded hydroquinone clathrate with Carnegie Staff Scientist Tim Strobel. Nichole Valdez (Colorado College worked with CDAC Coordinator and Carnegie Research Scientist Stephen Gramsch on synthesizing Fe2SiO5.
Earlier in the summer, CDAC Carnegie Summer Scholar Juliana Mesa (Universidad EAFIT, Colombia) presented a talk on her work with Fe stable isotopes. Juliana worked with Carnegie Staff Scientist Anat Shahar.
The summer scholars have now returned to their home institutions, but several will be presenting their results at national meetings in the coming year.
